A celebration
After hundreds of hours of work, I just sent the manuscript for The Successful Associate to my editor.
This is my second book, and it reminds me of what I’ve heard about childbirth — as time passes, your memory of the hard parts fades until you only remember the good ones. Now I get the privilege of reliving all the hard parts… and honestly, I wouldn’t trade it. (So maybe it’s more like childbirth than I thought.)
It also turns out it’s harder to write a shorter book. My first one, The Happy Lawyer, came in around 60,000 words. The second draft of this one was 45,000.
Three drafts later, it’s 32,000. 😅 That didn’t just take focus — it took real discipline.
My goal with this book: that never again will an associate fail simply because they didn’t know the way. I’m excited for this to land with the profession. 😊
